Bad Idea

I told you guys, this is a bad idea!
Who would go trick-or-treating in a Librarian's house?
Yeah you are right.
We need to finish a chapter book before we get some candies!

The Blind

"Jesus said to him in reply, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man replied to him, “Master, I want to see.” Jesus told him, “Go your way; your faith has saved you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way." - Mark 10:51–52
Not because we can see it doesn't mean we are not blind.
When we don't see sufferings around us. We are blind.
When we cannot see the pain we cause others with our greed. We are blind.
When we don't see the love that others are giving us and we cannot give back the love they deserve. We are blind.
And when we cannot see compassion and forgiveness as powerful tools to help us live a fruitful life. We are indeed blind.

Why Forget?

Why do we need to go to school?” asked Lily. “Mr. Clownfish is boring. He isn’t funny”, she added.
Well, in case you forget” said Emily… "we are fish! We do go to school!"

More powerful than sufferings

Because of his affliction he shall see the light in fullness of days; through his suffering, my servant shall justify many, and their guilt he shall bear. - Isaiah 53:11

Like a fallen leaf...
suffering scares us out of our wits
for the unknown can be dreadful.
Like a torn and tattered leaf...
suffering can wear our spirit out
for the pain can be sometimes unbearable.
Like a lone leaf left on the ground...
suffering sometimes feels like we are on our own
for the loneliness brought by it can be fearful.
And like the fallen leaves of autumn,
suffering can also be a blessing on its own
for we also know that despite the unknown, the pain, the loneliness -
through acceptance...
the power of prayers...
and God's love... healing will come!

October is the National Breast Cancer Month
Today I stumbled upon one special blog about  Leaves for Leontien to support one very special Blogger [whom I don't really know] who is battling an aggressive form of melanoma.

So today as a blogger, I support this effort to bring prayers and hope to Leontien because I believe that suffering doesn't discriminate anyone.

And today I know that Someone more powerful and who knows sufferings more than we can imagine is listening and will not ignore such effort.

Prayer
Lord,  I could have prayed for you to take away sufferings
but instead I pray that you give me your power to endure sufferings
for I know that I am not exempted from it.
Lord, I pray that when sufferings will come my way
I will have the strength to face it with a humble heart.
Amen.

Who Knows?

"I prayed, and prudence was given me; I pleaded, and the spirit of wisdom came to me. I preferred her to scepter and throne, and deemed riches nothing in comparison with her, nor did I liken any priceless gem to her; because all gold, in view of her, is a little sand, and before her, silver is to be accounted mire. Beyond health and comeliness I loved her, and I chose to have her rather than the light, because the splendor of her never yields to sleep. Yet all good things together came to me in her company, and countless riches at her hands." - Wisdom 7:7–11

I used to tell my students... think with your heart and love with your mind. I don't know how I came up with that advise. All I know is that it made them think and shut up. If they did think with their hearts - who knows?

I had many made-up words that I put together that come handy when students, friends, family even strangers need one. I am not the "go-to-person-for-advises" kinda girl but it appeared to me that in most cases, I always play that role.

Then one day it dawned on me that my advises are working well for other people but me. I panicked. Who then could I ask when I need advise? Who knew?

That day too, I told my cousin what's going on not really hoping for a good advise. To my surprise, she told me something... nice words that made me feel better.

Then I asked... "how did you know that?" I was wondering. "How did you come up with such a wonderful advise?"

And she said..."well, you told me one day. Please try to remember these words I am telling you now because I know one day when it is my time to be in that situation, I may not find the right words to say to myself." Who could have known?

-------------------------------------------------------

Wisdom is not the ability to think of the right words to say but the grace to say the comforting words on the right time. Wisdom is the words spoken from the hearts!

Prayer
Lord, Give us your wisdom
so we may be able to think with our hearts.
Amen.

The Greedy!

"Define greedy!" She said annoyed.
"Well, you just asked me to make you some jewelry out of all these rocks." He snapped.
"Is that too much to ask?" She replied defensively.
