Humility and Power

"For every one who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." Luke 14:11

Humility gives one the power to achieve something that only faith understood.

Humility is the power to live a life in total submission to faith.

Humility is power in faith.

Lord give me a humble heart. Amen.

Old Friends

Old friends never die. They just need to go somewhere. They just went to distant land to pursue their dreams. But they remaind forever in our hearts.

Old friends are treasures. They helped us build our dreams. They shared the same happy thoughts. And they left behind lasting memories.

Old friends are hard to forget. They are constant reminders of who we are. They made us what we are. They will always be in our hearts wherever we are.

Thank you for my good old friends.

Authors Note: This post is dedicated to my High School Classmates. IV- Venusians '82, Sacred Heart Academy, Nagcarlan Laguna, Philippines. We started organizing and planning our 30th Grand Class Reunion. I miss you all. It's time to walk the memory lane.

The First or... The Last?

"And behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last." Luke 13:30

Everybody wants to be the first. Nobody wants to be the last.

Is life some kind of a race where there is a winner and a loser?

Is victory the ultimate goal in life or is it just how the world evolve?

Does losing mean the end of the world or it's just one way of looking at life?

Winning doesn't always mean a victory and losing doesn't always mean a defeat. What is important is... when you know in your heart that you tried your best... it is already the sweet taste of victory.

Lord, help us to win the good fight of faith.
Help us to win the war against evil.
And in the end, when we lost our final battle to eternity...
May your Kingdom be our ultimate reward.

Home. Where is home?

Is it a place where we go after a long day...

or a place to stay after an exhausting day?

Is it only a roof to cover our head from the falling rain...

or a shelter from the storm?

Is it where we hide our treasures...

or where we keep our fondest memories?

Home... why do I miss home? Why do I feel homesick even if I am at home?

God thank you for providing us home.

The Unbeliever and the Believer

"And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfilment of what was spoken to her from the Lord." Luke 1:45

The unbeliever has only one thing in mind... proof! He believes only what he sees. And he always have doubts.

The believer has only one thing in mind... faith! He sees with his heart. He believes without doubt.

But given the best or worse of situation... the unbeliever and the believer can trade places. It will only take one miracle and the unbeliever can have even just a single grain of faith. And it will only take one tragic fate and the believer can turn into a Doubting Thomas.

The unbeliever and the believer live and co-exist in harmony with God's grace. They both see the same thing without doubt. But their faith varies in their hearts. And the truth is a constant quest.

Lord, Let me see the things you want my heart to see.
Let me love with faith and humility.
And let me believe and trust in your grace. Amen

On Laughter

When was the last time you laughed? When was the last time you really laughed that it made you cry? When was the last time you laughed and it made you feel free?

Laugh. It's free. It's unconditional. It's liberating.

Laugh like there is no tomorrow. Laugh like it was your last. Laugh like you really mean it.

Laugh because life is too short to waste sulking. Laugh your pain away because it is healing. Laugh your heartache away because it is soothing. Laugh your worries away because it is calming.

Pain is real but temporary. There is no secret to happy life. Just laugh... live... love and be thankful that we have a chance to laugh and feel alive.

Heart's Desire

"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also..." Luke 12:34

Human beings are by nature prone to dream. Dream makes them alive. It helps them believe. It gives them hope.

Human beings are sometimes powered by desire. Desire makes them persistent. It helps them succeed. It gives them power.

And sometimes human beings are driven by both their own dreams and desires.

Their dreams and desires make them persevere to acquire what gives them the reasons to work hard.

Their dreams and desires help them to overcome hardship to achieve the sweet taste of success.

And their dreams and desire give them the inspiration to live better lives.

We treasure in our hearts so many of our dreams and desires. Sometimes we see them as the reasons why we need to get up in the morning... or the breath we breathe... or the food for our soul.

But dreams and desires should not be mistaken with illusions and obsessions. For there is a very thin line separating the two - and faith it is.

My Other Passion

Once a cyber friend asked me... "What is your dream?" I gave it a deep thought for a minute. The question came out rather uncalled for.

No one asked me that kind of question for years. And I was assuming that only younger people are asked of that kind of question, aren't they?

But I felt that I couldn't get away with it so I came up with this answer... "I dream that someday... I will be able to have an exhibit of my growing collections of flowers".

Because true enough - I got the talent!

I love to paint. Yes, I love to paint as much as I love to write and blog. I always love to draw, color and paint for as long as I can remember. And I know I learned how to draw first before I was able to learn how to write.

I am always fascinated by colors.

I am always amused by lines.

And I am always interested with curves.

And though you always find me capturing the beauty of flowers with my lens... I first captured them with my brushes and color pallet.

And I posted them in canvas so I can forever be thankful of the talent that God gave me...

and to admire my passion on the wall.

Note: All of these masterpieces of mine are done with acrylic paint. They are all left behind when I migrated here in the US and were just photographed by my brother Japol. My paintings are signed "Achoot" which is how I am fondly called or addressed by those people who are really close to my heart.
