Endurance

"...we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us." Romans 5:4-5

Endurance. We need it to keep us going. We need it to achieve our goal. And we need it be able to get us through hardship.

Endurance. It is not only for the body to be able to sustain hard work. It is not only for the heart to be able to take heartache. It is not only for the mind to be able to hold up to one's belief.

Endurance. It is also for the spirit to be able to keep the faith in spite of disbelief. It is for the spirit to be able to draw up hopes in spite of discouragement. And it is for the spirit to be able to mold a strong character that will help hope and faith to live and thrive.

Faith and hope are not just inherent to our character as a human being. They are gifts that can help nurture one's spirit that can easily fade away or weaken through sufferings and trials. They are secret weapons that can help one make better judgment and choices. And they are life lines that one needs that will lead him to live life to the fullest.

She... the Woman

She
May be the face I can't forget
The trace of pleasure or regret
May be my treasure or the price I have to pay

She
May be the song that summer sings
May be the chill that autumn brings
May be a hundred different things
Within the measure of a day

She
May be the beauty or the beast
May be the famine or the feast
May turn each day into a heaven or a hell

She
May be the mirror of my dreams
The smile reflected in a stream
She may not be what she may seem
Inside her shell

She
Who always seems so happy in a crowd
Whose eyes can be so private and so proud
No one's allowed to see them when they cry

She
May be the love that cannot hope to last
May come to me from shadows of the past
That I'll remember till the day I die

She
May be the reason I survive
The why and wherefore I'm alive
The one I'll care for through the rough in ready years

Me
I'll take her laughter and her tears
And make them all my souvenirs
For where she goes I've got to be
The meaning of my life is...

She
She... oh, she...

Being a woman is fun. For me, being a woman is a privilege.
Being a woman has more exciting benefits. And being a woman is a challenge.
But I am not complaining. I am not whining [although sometimes it seems like I do, wink*]
And I am not seriously complicated as I seem to be.

I am happy being a woman. I am happy with what life has to offer.
I am a woman to the max and I'm in-charge of my life.
Thank God, I am a woman!

Forgiveness

"If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained." John 20:23

Forgiveness. It's a huge word. It is so huge... that it is so hard to carry... when you have a very small hand. It is so huge that it is impossible to digest... when you don't have the stomach for it. And it is so huge that it is painful to feel... when you have a heart of stone.

Forgiveness. It's a healing word. It heals wounds of emotions. It heals pains of coldness. It heals sick memories.

Forgiveness. It's a liberating word. It frees the soul from bondage. It gives freedom to heal. And it renews relationships.

We may not be able to forgive after a painful experience. We may not have the capacity to forgive the heart that betrayed us. And we may not have the wisdom to understand why we have to. And those are the reasons why... we have faith.

Let us forgive... with faith in our hearts.

“Always forgive your enemies - nothing annoys them so much.”

A Grateful Heart Friday Meme

Thankful Thursday. It is a great idea, isn't it?

An idea I happened to read from a blog of a friend. An idea that sparked up something within me that gave birth to an inspiration. An idea that I should have thought about a long time ago if I was grateful enough to appreciate the smallest blessings around me.

Thanks JUDY for the inspiration.... You are such a blessing, indeed!
I thank God for you... Let me "thank you."

I had to admit... I whine a lot. I complain often. And I grumble frequently. And though I know that there are lots of blessings I received, too often I am not very appreciative of them maybe because...

They are too small compared to what I wanted.

They are too insignificant compared to what I expected.

And they are too common compared to what I desperately needed or hoped for.

But life has a lot to offer. Life is a blessing in itself... and so I am going to do "A Grateful Heart Meme" to show my gratefulness for all the blessings I received for the whole week... big or small.

I will post One Blessing at a Time... and be grateful for it.

If you want to do the same... you can JOIN ME. Sign up below, grab the LOGO... WRITE about the BLESSINGS that you received for the week... and LINK UP this website to your post.

Let's do this ONCE A WEEK... every FRIDAY and have a "grateful heart".

Life or Something Like It

"He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has fixed by his own authority." Acts 1:7

Like the changing season, life has its time to grow and prosper.

Like the flowers of springtime, life blooms with blessings and graces.

And like the hands of time, life continually ticking and evolving.

Our life here on earth is transient. It is not up to us to decide when it is to end. Neither it is in our power to choose the life we want to live. But one thing is sure, what we make out of our lives is what we give back to the one who gave it to us.

You're alive. Do something. The directive in life, the moral imperative was so uncomplicated.
It could be expressed in single words, not complete sentences.
It sounded like this:
Look. Listen. Choose. Act.

The Light

And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine upon it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb. Revelation 21:23

No one wants to be in the dark. No one wants to be left out in the dark. And no one wants to stay in the dark.

Darkness is frightening to a lot of people. Darkness is a curse to some.  And darkness is like death to a few.

The lack of light is significant. The presence of light is a blessing. The light in the dark is a miracle.

Let your light shine.
Shine within you so that it can shine on someone else.
Let your light shine.

A Special Day where I truly miss my Mom

My mother is long gone. She passed away 8 years ago. She passed on the legacy that her own mother gave her. And she passes by my reveries every now and then.

I was able to experience to be a mother at one point in my life. The experience though very brief is very significant. The experience despite the pain is very memorable. And the experience even if traumatizing is very life-changing.

Mother's Day is just an ordinary day for me. It is just a regular day to me since my mother passed away. It is just a normal day to me since I lost my baby. And it will always be just another day for me that will pass by.

But Mother's Day is a special day. It is a day to celebrate with a grateful heart. It is a day to honor the most important human being in this world. And it is a day to show how grateful we are to that most important human being in this whole wide world.

MOM... Happy Mother's Day to you... wherever you are... I miss you so much and I love you.

Happy Mother's Day to all.

To Love or Not to Love

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:34-35

Do we love because we are told to do so? Or do we love because it is our responsibility to do so? Love is a commandment and a commitment. Love is a contract between two human beings or a human being with the supreme being. And love rules. There is no doubt that love is the only rational thing why people would do irrational things in the name of love.

Do you love because you wanted to be loved back? Or do you love because you chose to? Love is the very source of life. There is no life if love didn't exist. Love is in existence because two human beings acknowledged the power of love. There is no doubt that love is one of the reasons why some people can get unreasonable.

Do I love because I am scared to be alone? Or do I love because I have love to give? Love comes from free will. Love should be unconditional. And love is free. There is no doubt that love makes the world go round. However, you cannot love if you don't love yourself. Well, you cannot give what you don't have, right?

But the commandment of love was given to guide human beings to conduct themselves according to the real purpose of love. Unconditional love is still "in". It is still the most sought-after emotion due to it's historical orientation dating back to the Old Testament. It is still the "hype" in this love-starved generation of disoriented disciples misled by modernity and materialism. And love is the most valuable commodity that one should invest on if he wants to inherit the richness of heavens.

To love or not to love... it is a choice. We always have a choice. And we can always make a choice. Love... live... and love living.

Do all things with love.
Og Mandino
